Woes of FS2004, Hopes for FSX and a few questions

Featured Replies

Hi AllI have been a Flightsim fan for years and have really enjoyed every minute of it.I have movde into a new phaze with my flightsimmming and I have to say I am probably not the only one eagerly awaiting FSXI recently purchased the magnificent Blackbird from JustFlight and I have to say that is simmply one of the most amazing aircraft for FS at the moment. This is where my issues come in. flying at 85000 look absolutely horrible. No curvy horizon instead just a flickery flat line and bad textures. I don't know if I am missing some settings or if there are tweaks or mods that addresses this but I don't want to take htis beauty above a few thousand feet.I have all my setting at max as I have a fairly good computer, dual core, sli etc.Is this simply one of those highly irritating limitation in FS?Which brings me to my next topic, will the follow things be addressed in FSX?Speed limitHight limitNo curvy horizon at correct hightsTo name but a few? Please console me as I am a very depressed Havu driver right now. Thanks for listening.Gian

FS2004 does not support a curved horizon, and sorry to say at 85000 feet, you won't see much detail in the textures because your line of sight will look beyond the limit of extended terrain textures. It probably isn't that different from the real Blackbird--those beautiful pictures we've seen are taken from a camera aimed at the ground. Do this in the MSFS Blackbird, and you'd see some interesting detail. But the Blackbird pilot, unless I am mistaken, probably didn't have a great view of the distant terrain at those altitudes. As to the other questions, ask in the FSX forum. I'd like to see the speed and height limit improved, but I don't think we'll see a curved horizon. Most of the audience for MSFS flies below 50,000 feet, I daresay :)If you want to improve things at altitude a bit, try my "Soft Horizons" add on in the library. It does help, especially in the high altitudes. -John
