This thread is almost a year old, but yes you can pan around, switch views just like in FSX or P3D. Xplane11 also allows for panning with the mouse if you wish. In addition Xplane11 has a more robust flight recording feature, your flight is recorded automatically as you fly, you can pull up the recording by pressing ALT-R and even save the recording, then play your flight back and observe it from any point of view for screenshots and taking videos.
