No water reflections since upgrading FE to newest version

Featured Replies

This is a big puzzle as no matter what settings I use for Terrain and water effects, the water reflections have disappeared and the water surface colors seem all washed out. If I turn off all effects, the water is a deep blue. Otherwise it is more of a very light blue.No change in video card settings or drivers. Anyone else with this issue?Greg

Could it be something complete different:Could it be the old Windows region/language system setting. If its anything other than English (USA), reflection is gone on my sim so I pretend to be an american for that sole reason ;)Eagle

I've recently noticed that I've lost both water reflections and wave effects in the US. I also have FE plus Ultimate Terrain. The odd thing is, I do have wave effects in other parts of the world. I have't been overly concerned about it, I figure FSX is just around the corner. I do miss the reflections, though.Jim

Not sure what is causing this?It maybe something to do with UT taking up more resources?I'll check it out myself and get back to you.

Peter,Glad you to see you back on line again. I am not using UT, only USA Roads. No other add ons.I am glad to see I am not the only one experiencing this problem.Additionally I do not see the greens, browns, and really blacks that are advertised under the water selection either. Also new since the update are found additionally under water selections:user set 1 overwrite files in Flight simulator 9/Flight 1 software/fligthEnvironment/Data/Water/Base 15.This text is written over a picture of a water selection.Note the mispelling of fligth is the way it is written. There are several of these options, and I do not recall seeing them before the upgrade. What are these for? Thanks,Greg

A lot of this is caused by the interraction of the textures with the weather. Are you using the default weather engine? If so, consider changing it! (The weather, or better still, the engine).Allcott

Hi,a while ago i had the problem too, that i didn't see any water-reflections anymore with FE.Someone in the Flight1 forum gave me the tip, to select 'clear all weather' in the weather menu of FS9. And - voila - the water reflections came back! From time to time the water reflections seem to disappear, and it always helped to clear the weather!I hope this works for you too!Cheers from germany,Michael

Tried it no luck.Another thing is that with water detail set to high, especially at lower altitude there is this odd effect where the waves in the ocean look super 3d then completely blur then look 3d again, back and forth on and on, every few seconds.I am not sure that is an intended effect.Again new since the new download.Greg

This interesting. With the default fair weather from FS9 loaded which is what I was testing the various water sets with, there is no reflection.Went back to using realtime Active Sky weather over the same area, the reflections appear as they should.Push clear weather, and select default fair weather boom they disappear.Maybe this is just an idiosyncrasy of FS 9.Greg
