Our lovely GTN in 11.20 VR ?

Featured Replies

Hello all

did someone succeeded to test the gtn in a virtual reality view with 11.20?

if yes which plane ?

thanks a lot in advance

Great question!  I'm wondering the same thing.

Will you be able to use the GTN touch in VR cockpits in the future? the buttons and knobs work but no interaction with the touch screen is possible at the moment in the native VR in X-Plane 11

It loads up with the new Just Flight Piper Arrow III, buttons and knobs are usable but nothing works regarding the touch screen.

Hi, this solely depends on XP11 being able to offer Window like interfaces in VR, since XP controls the display of our gauge rendering.

Then for the mouse interface, it would require XP11 SDK to allow third party plugins to define 'click' areas over 3D polygons at runtime, which is not an available feature of the SDK for the moment (VR or not). In order to support the 3D cockpit touchscreen, we have to resort to displaying a full screen invisible window just to trap mouse events, and I suspect this is not something that works when in VR.

We've been asking for 3rd party plugins support to create and manage 3D obj and mouse 'manipulators' at run-time, like they have implemented for their own internal use with the new FMC and G1000, but they are really busy implementing their own set of feature first. I don't despair they'll do someday.
