April 30, 200620 yr Had the pleasure of flying to the Leeson Electric Motor factory in their company Lear back in `94. However, in FS9, I am unable to identify the field they used. I know it was a short 25 minute car ride "east" of the factory - but in FS - I do not see a field similar in size. I recall the field as having long r/w's, fully ILS equipped, with a predominent runway WSW - ENE. Significant executive activity, along with some military, if I rmemeber correctly.Anybody familiar with this area that could provide a lead for me ?Maybe the field isn't in FS ? Size of field I rmemeber would make this unlikely. Thanks,Ron
April 30, 200620 yr Hi Ron,Two thoughts come to mind. 1. Airfield was closed some time subsequent to your stop there--so it would not be in FS9.2. #1 probably not a good idea--not given the size/complexity of the airfield in question. Soooo, what would be the nearest city to Grafton that would have an airfield of that type? Where in WI is Grafton located? (can't find Grafton on my Atlas :-) )E-mail me--you have the address--I can check my book of IAPs. Cheers,Paul
May 1, 200620 yr Ron,Is it possible that you have your directions confused? Grafton, WI is close to Lake Michigan, and you can't go too far east of there without running into the lake. There is an airfield in Grafton (WI61), but it's very small, and primarily used for ultralights. The nearest field with an ILS approach is Waukesha (KUES), which is about 21 miles from WI61.As the previous poster noted, things may have changed in the years between 1994 and the data used for FS9 (which is 2001 data, if memory serves). May 1, 200620 yr According to Google, Leeson Electric Motors is located 15 miles north of Milwaukee on interstate 43, so it's a good chance you went in to Milwaukee Mitchel (KMKE). They did have Air National Guard there then on east side of the airport.CheersEd Weber a.k.a tallpilot
May 2, 200620 yr Thanks all.Mitchel sounds like the ticket, I guess. As a young(er) entrepeneur, flying on the Lear must have fogged my brain, in addition to my glasses !Due to the departure exception the pilot requested - (rcoket ship ride to mid-teens) - I thought it had to be further north from Milwaukee.......Best,Ron
