January 21, 20188 yr Hi all, In two specific airports, Imaginesim Atlanta and LatinVFR Porto , both latest versions for P3Dv4, I experience extreme textures flickering when on the external view on Chaseplane as well as in cinematic mode. The problem does not happen when I am on Prepar3D external view, for example spot view. In the following videos you can see the problem: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuObjEUAoTSTgfoTehGhHB0Y4t5IuA https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuObjEUAoTSTgfoSF37sREOSXDH1dg As it only happens with Chaseplane external camera, I would like to ask why this could be related to Chaseplane. January 23, 20188 yr Commercial Member Hi, It's a matter of balance. A few explanations: Spot View will not cause flickers but you can't position the camera close to the aircraft without having the camera clip the fuselage and other 3D objects close to the camera.. If Gimbal is enabled, we use the same clip distance as the Spot view so the result should be similar. Outside camera mode without Gimbal is made for cameras attached to the body of the aircraft. Reducing the flickering would then cause the camera to clip through the fuselage of the aircraft at an unreasonable distance. Custom camera definitions provided by most aircraft developer (accessible through the default camera system) also suffer from the same issue. If you want to look at scenery, use the Gimbal in Outside camera mode or use Static cameras. It is the responsibility of the scenery developer to ensure those clipping mode aren't causing this issue. I hope this answered your question! Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.
January 23, 20188 yr Author Thank you Keven. Usually I take one of the external views set for the aircraft and walk around. I guess I'll have to make some new one with Gimbal to view the scenery. Thanks for the explanation! :) Simulators: Prepar3D v5.4 | X-Plane 12 | DCS World | MSFS 2024 | PC Hardware: Dell U3417W | AMD Ryzen 7 9800 X3D | ASUS TUF 5070 Ti | ASUS TUF B580 Plus Wifi | G.Skill Z5 Neo 64GB 3000Mhz CL30 | Samsung 990 Pro 2TB + 970 EVO Plus 1TB + 860 EVO 2TB + 850 EVO 1TB, Western Digital Black Caviar Black 6TB | Corsair RM1000i | Corsair 280 Titan RX | VRM Fan | Fractal Design Define S2 Gunmetal | Flight Controls: Fulcrum One Yoke | Virpil VPC WarBRD Base | Virpil VPC MongoosT-50CM Grip, Thrustmaster Warthog+F/A-18C Grip | VIER IM POTT Sidestick CPT Side | Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals | Virtual Fly TQ6+Throttle Quadrant | Sismo B737 Max Gear Lever | Monsterteck Desk Mounts | WINWING EfisL+FCU+MCDU | My fleet catalog: Link
