May 11, 200620 yr Fellow simmers some advice please!I have UK VFR Photographic Scenery and UK VFR Terrrain installed in FS9.I am thinking of buying UT Europe. Is it an improvement over UK VFR Photo Scenery and if so do I have to uninstall the photo scenery before installing UT Europe?Frank
May 11, 200620 yr Frank, UK VFR Photo Scenery is a totally different product to UT Europe.I had UT Europe and removed it due to horrendous performance issues, all of which were skipped around and or made out to be my problem on the UT forums, yet others were complaining of the same.Ash
May 11, 200620 yr I can certainly recommend UT-Europe. As for "improvement", that depends on how you define the term. The UK VFR scenery gives a great photo-realistic covering to the UK (up to Scotland, anyway) and VFR Terrain corrects the coastline errors. With UT-Europe you also get the coastline and water corrections, as well as accurate roads and far more autogen buildings and trees than with UK-VFR. However, if you have the photoscenery installed it will take precedence over anything else, as all photoscenery does, so whilst you don't need to uninstall it before running UT-Europe, if you want to see the latter you should disable the UK-VFR scenery layers. In addition, as both VFT Terrain and UT-Europe have coastline correction files you may get double-coastline effects, and you should disable all but the VFR Terrain DTM layer (which contains the excellent 19m mesh for the UK)As UT-Europe uses the Flight1 Wrapper system you can try it out with the option of a 30-day refund if you don't happen to like it. There's a dedicated Forum at Flight1 if you do run into any problems.I still have the UK-VFR scenery installed, however it has been some time since I used it, having been Beta and Gamma testing the UT-Europe scenery.Alastair(Flight One Certified Professional)
May 11, 200620 yr Have a look at the Visual Flight forums. There is some discussion there about using UT with the VFR scenery.Martin
May 11, 200620 yr Thanks guys.Think I'll hold off on getting UT Europe in the light of what I'm hearing.
May 12, 200620 yr Author One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that UT Europe will give you accurate night lighting over the top of the VFR scenery. So you can fly the VFR photo textures during the day, and as the sun sets, the lights come on and you can now fly night VFR :)
