Select Approach Page Empty

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I have recently noticed that when flying with a flight plan in the GPS, I am unable to select an approach at the destination airport. The selection page is empty.  However when using "Direct To" the destination approaches appear as expected.

I am only using the default GPS as it is implemented in the Carenado and RealAir aircraft. I also recently subscribed to fsaerodata and Navigraph and updated the nav data. I hate to admit it but I don't remember if this was an issue previously or not.

Anyone know if this is the normal behavior in the default GPS. If not, any thoughts on how I might correct this?

Thanks,

Jesse

I'm not sure if this is applicable to your question but I'd be glad if it works for you:

HOW CAN BE SIMULATED  SIDS AND STAR PROCEDURES ON THE GPS UNITS?
fsAerodata implements aprox. 65,000 SIDs and STARs procedures that can be simulated using a new feature available on Prepar3D GPS units. Feature is available with the 'PROC' (Procedures) button.

To enable this feature on any aircraft GPS, the user has to edit the aircraft panel configuration file, replacing the gps type from default version 'fs9gps.cab' to 'p3dgps.cab'.

Can Carenado's GNS and G1000 read the updated nav data?

What add-on aircraft do you know, that can read the updated nav data from Prepar3Dv4 with their gps?

Thanks,

Thanks for your response and for the research Dirk. And, thanks to everyone who viewed and gave this some thought.

I was just headed back to report that I seem to have located the source of the problem and it was nothing that I suspected.

I have been creating flight plans on Skyvector and converting with the Skyvector to FSX tool. The flight plans seemed to be fine in all other respects but there is something slightly different in the P3dv4 format that doesn't properly recognize the destination for selecting approaches. Using the sim flight planner to create a flight plan and the Select Approach page is populated as expected.

In answer to your specific question Dirk, yes the Carenado GPS recognizes the updated nav data.

Thanks again everyone. This is a great community and a valuable resource.
