An A310

Featured Replies

This is one aircraft that has definately been overlooked. Sure SSW did it but if you own it i shouldn't have to say anymore. We need an LDS or PMDG version of it. Everyone loved the LDS767. Well this is basically Airbus's version of the 767. Just like to 767, it is not too advanced and still add's some of the ol steam gauges.

I don't think any developer is going for this aircraft or A300 at this time. If you seriously like this aircraft I'm afraid you'd have to stick to SSW for a long time to come although I certainly understand what you meant in your post.CLS just released their version of A310 but CLS is CLS. Their planes are nothing much more than good external models. Jason

Just curious why you think they wouldn't touch this? they can probably egt more input from Airbus for this plane as opposd to the 320.

IMO I don't think there is anything unatractive about A300/310 to developers. There just aren't that many "high-end" developers to get around and do every plane out there. At the same time, it might have to do with the availability of information and data. SSW has access to a commercial A310 simulator in Russia (I think so because I saw pictures on their forum), that's how they could do a complex 310. However, everybody always cries about the lack of A320 info but now all in a sudden we have how many A320 projects announced? 3 at least. Whatever happened to the myth of "impossible to do a good A320". Also I don't understand why the manufacture is the only valid source for info & data. I think a certified MRO who does work on the particular type would be just good enough for FS purposes.Jason

Thats too bad SSW's 310 didnt turn out so good. I have it and I have to say for its time (IF EVERYTHING WORKED PROPERLY) it was ahead of its time. The gauges were sooo smooth. The text on the panel was hard to read but the plane was very well done except for the bug that seemed to never be cured although some might disagree. I ahve tried installing this plane many a time and gave it many tries but it the bugs never went away with the patches. Oh well. I hope they have better luck on their 320. It will have to be good to kep pace with PMDG's work.

You are right about it being ahead of its time. It was released before FS9 as I can remember. There are definitely a lot of good things about that 310 although buggy. SSW's project and customer relationship management is another story. No point getting into it because I don't like beating a dead horse.Jason
