Feedback Request - Upgrade PC parts?

Featured Replies

All,

I've had my machine for about four (4) years now. Wondering if upgrading any of the parts below will help with Prepar3d v4 performance specifically blurries?

  • Processor: Intel Core i7 4790K 4.0 GHz - Overclock CPU 4.2GHz
  • Motherboard: ASUS Z97I-PLUS (Intel Z97 Chipset) (Mini-ITX)
  • System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
  • Graphics Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Black 6GB (Includes PhysX)

Thanks in advance.

Tim

You have a very similar setup as mine and I also have been considering upgrading, but cost right now is way too expensive, mainly due to BitCoin mining. Obviously, upgrading to latest hardware may make a small difference, but even with the implementation of 64-bit, I still feel that P3D can’t utilize all of our hardware. If you are getting blurries, you may want to limit your frames. I know some have better success limiting inside the game, but the majority seem to run unlimited in game and a limited in the NVIDIA control panel. Have you run any benchmarks lately, I know for me, I hadn’t run any in a long time and then ran some today actually and realized my system was underperforming significantly. That may help you find some additional computing power for the game.

My opinion: wait until the mining has decreased before purchasing new hardware.

Thanks for the feedback. If you were to purchase, what would you get?

Tim

Upgraded CPU to the 8700k and DDR4 3000.

Im beginning to look at parts and come up with a list to do an entire rebuild. I’m gonna watercool it and increase wire management. Hoping to start building within the next 6 months assuming prices start dropping soon. I think your Titan should be fine for now. I’m running a 970 SC so I will be upgrading to 1080 TI when the time comes.
