GNS 530 Power State

Featured Replies

Hi,

Its excellent that the 530 volume knob correctly simulates the power down and power up procedure exactly the same as the real world system does. It’s a great feature!

would it be possible to somehow report the power state out to say a spare Fsuipc value or an event id?

Great at work on this product already and keep up the good work!

regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your kind words and sorry for the delay.

The power state and many others are already available via the published L:Var "rxp.gps.discrete_out"

It is mentioned in the User's Manual but not extensively documented there. Do you have any particular need for this?

I am lucky that I had a small monitor to run the gns530 on in a separate screen that also had a backlight on/off switch.

I managed to to use an arduino and a nice piece of software called Mobiflight to turn the backlight on or off depending on the avionics bus voltage.

I then thought about the power knob on the gns bexel turning the screen off, it’s a bit over the top and I’ll probably never use it but it would be a nice touch!

Thanks for getting back to me and if you can point me in the right direction i would be grateful.

Regards

Richard

I'm sorry for the delay.

As a matter of fact, besides deciphering the 'discrete_out' value, there could be a simpler way for you: just use the knob rotation angle variable instead (p15 of the updated User's Manual):

rxp.GNS_530_1.knob_powr! ! number (rotation angle in degrees)

When it reads 0, it is in the off position.

That’s perfect thank you! A combination of both values used gives the exact result needed. Thank you for your help and guidance.

Richard
