February 16, 20188 yr Hi. I've been trying to solve this for years and I thought I'd give it another try. The Wilco Airbus will not flare with autoland. To my knowledge I'm doing it right...Everything is fine the whole way in...but she does not flare...Just keeps the established -500 fpm rate of descent when it hits the runway. Any ideas?
February 17, 20188 yr Hi, today I spent hours trying to resolve a few long standing issues with my Wilco A320. I had great success. Personally have never experienced your issue but I have had the out of trim problem (resolved by following the FAQs regarding FSUIPC) and also an issue whereby the FDs would command turns the wrong way! I would recommend some simple things like deleting your FS9.cfg that's within your Local\App Data folder, and also deleting the Flight Simulator 9\FeelThere\Airbus\FMGC\A320\fmgc.cfg file. Both get recreated. Of course backup both first!

I mean, at least for manual landings in the real-world Airbus, the Flare mode adds some trim down at 50 ft AGL, so that the pilot must pull the stick nose-up a bit, just as if he was flaring (IIRC). Thus, pitch is not changed at all during approach. I'll be happy to be corrected... February 18, 20188 yr The Wilco Airbuses will flare on autoland, BUT you have to set up the FMC with ALL the required data in order to get a correct approach v-speed, and then stick to it until bitchin' betty says 'retard, retard'. THEN you'll get your flare and a 'kiss' touchdown. It's all about programming the FMC, which is basically a smart weigh scale, give it ALL the info it needs from the payload manager and fuel calculator and it'll fly the plane better than you can!
