Hi Alex

I don't know if you are aware of this site: https://openflightmaps.org/live/  It allows you to download VFR maps for most of Europe. It is probably not useful for LNM as they come down as PDF's, but I thought I would point it out to you anyway.

Hi Alex,

Did you have a chance to look into Open Flightmaps? I am very curious to see if they could be used in LNM.

I have looked at the Marble tutorial on how to create a .dgml file but I am a complete noob at this.

Before I give it a go I wanted to check if you think it is possible at all?

Thanks!

Martijn

Hi Martijn,

sorry. Busy with other stuff and fixing annoying bugs in LNM.

There are three options to as far as I can see (did a quick two minute scan of the website):

  1. Load airspaces from OpenAIR which is offered there. This will give you only the airspaces in LNM and the currently limited LNM display. Also, LNM airspace data managment is currently a bit shoddy and works only for X-Plane.
  2. Use the slippy map tiles (simply images) which can be downloaded there. If you set up a local webserver you can use LNM to access these tiles by pointing a DGML to it. Maybe OFM has some example files around for a DGML.
  3. Ask OFM if they are willing to serve the slippy map tiles for third party applications or if they already do.

I created a GitHub issue for tracking: https://github.com/albar965/littlenavmap/issues/311
