Very quick AIR file question

Featured Replies

Hello, just made a pigs ear of substituting AI models using Ultimate traffic, anyway long story short all my aircraft's airfiles are in notepad format, meaning they all now display the little 'notepad' icon in my folder, does this matter at all and if so any idea of how to get them back to the original? Many thanksGeorge

George,If the aircraft load, don't worry about it. What you did is associate a CFG file type with Notepad.I have my system set up like that. Makes it faster to edit the file.As long as the filename says aircraft.cfg, there should be no problem.Hope this helps.Jim

Sorry Jim I just read over your message again, its actually the .air files that are in notepad aswell as the .cfg ones, does this matter? Thanks,George

George,That is kinda messy but if the aircraft loads in FS9, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you have an air file editor, you really cannot properly edit a .air file thru notepad. If you do accidentally edit one, you'll probably have to reload the aircraft or the .air file.If you want to view the file associations,1. Open up Windows Explorer2. Click on Tools / Folder Options3. Click on the File Types tab4. Scroll down the list to the file extension you are looking for.It is here you have options to change or delete the association. You don't really want to mess around here too much because you are looking at ALL of the MS Windows file associations. You do not want to delete the wrong file associations. Some may have extra command syntax in them that you might not be able to re-create.I hope this helps.Jim
