June 6, 200619 yr I would like to change the GPS used in my Iron Knuckles DC-9. It uses the Garmin 295 by default, but I would like to use the 500 instead. I believe this can be done in the panel.cfg, but didn't know what lines needed to be changed. Any advice would be appreciated!KP
June 6, 200619 yr Hi KP,Go to the panel.cfg of the aircraft you wish to change and search for the following:gaugexx=fs9gps!gps_295,Change it to:gaugexx=fs9gps!gps_500,where gaugexx is the number of the gauge.Jim Karnhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg
June 7, 200619 yr You may also need to change the size of the window it's displayed in. See the difference between a default aircraft using the one and the other.
June 7, 200619 yr Yep, you're right about that. It did come out looking just a bit funny. Thanks for the extra info! :)KP

Don't you know aircraft of the "iron knuckle" era didn't have GPS? VOR was state of the art, baby!ps Insert humor smiley of choice here.

I don't use it all the time, honest! :-bigangelI mainly use it if I need to get up from my seat for a moment to take care of a crying/demanding/typical 4 year old. It's nice to be able to switch over temporarily to the GPS, or to use it to look up an approach, etc, it's nice to have it and I prefer the functionality of the 500 greatly over the 295.KP

VOR was state of>the art, baby!>He's using it for today's enviroment of restricted airspaces all over the place. Less potential to bust airspace! :D Besides, almost every WWII bomber you see flying around these days, has at least a hand-held GPS sitting on the glare sheild.L.Adamson
