P3Dv4 CTD when using File explorer

Featured Replies

Hi, A strange one, every time I have P3Dv4.1 running and click on file explorer in the taskbar, P3D freezes and after about 10 minutes I get a CTD. (No log of the CTD in event viewer any of the times)

I can use chrome of the taskbar with no issues, it is just when clicking file explorer

This is a new rig and a fresh install of P3D

I have found no answers or similar problems to this anywhere on the internet.

Any help would be hugely appreciated as this is getting so frustrating now.

Thanks,

Paul

I have my Windows Explorer displayed whenever I fly, mainly because I set up a FlightSim Folder containing all the icons of my addons and simulators and links to my dll.xml's, p3d.cfg, scenery.cfg, Addon Organizer, etc.  I have an icon in my task bar to open File Explorer and click on it often during a flight with no problems.  I use ProATC-X for some flights and have that running too.  I believe your problem is not with P3DV4 but with Windows.  According to Google, "Windows Explorer causes computer freeze", a corrupt video card driver could cause this.  You should scan your system for corrupt or missing files too - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system.  I would run it at an elevated level (type CMD in the Windows search, look up in the menu and right click on Command Prompt and select 'run as administrator').

Make sure P3DV4 is set to always run as an Administrator (right click P3D.exe and select Properties>Compatibility Tab> and make sure you have it set to run for ALL users).
