April 14, 20188 yr Hi all, Do we have an Avsim style guide for the front page at all? If not I'd be happy to look at putting something together - would be good to try and maintain a bit of consistency in terms of how we post articles, how we refer to people and organisations, abbreviations etc. Best, Simon Simon Kelsey
April 14, 20188 yr Not my area of expertise or operations but I am pretty positive the front page is dictated by the Theme installed. We currently have the default theme and looking at changing the theme to something else. We may bring in a professional designer or someone who can make the theme appropriate for AVSIM. I do not think Brian, the AVSIM Tech, is able to commit time to changing themes. He is the only one who can install it. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 14, 20188 yr Author Hi Jim, I didn't mean the appearance from a technical point of view -- more style in terms of how articles are written/formatted. All newspapers/magazines/online outlets etc will have one with the aim of ensuring consistency throughout the publication -- it's neater and easier for audiences to read. The BBC's is online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/academy/journalism/news-style-guide as an example. For example -- is it Avsim, AVSIM, AVSIM.com? How do we abbreviate things -- FSX-SE or FSXSE? P3Dv4, P3D v4, P3D4, P3DV4 or even (as I have seen in some places) P4D? 14 July, 14th July, 14/4, 4/14, July 14th? 150kt, 150 kt? It's the sort of thing journalists get excited/geek out about, along with the finer points of grammar and whether or not one should use the 'Oxford comma' :). Cheers, Simon Simon Kelsey
