When Clr and Dep freqs are same, P2A is confused

Featured Replies

I've noticed a very frustrating problem flying from my 'home' airport of KCMA Camarillo, CA.

When I start a flight there and try to talk to Ground, Pilot2ATC selects Clearance/ Delivery, which is listed as the same frequency(121.8) at that airport.  (I'm not sure there even is a Clr/Del service there in reality, but I could be wrong).

Although the Ground frequency is correct (121.8), the caption below says 'Clearance/ Delivery' and will not change to 'Ground', even when I select Ground as normal from the P2A console and switch, nor when I select it manually, punching in the numbers.  Clearance/ Delivery is listed first as the list is in alpha order; does it use the freq to search and then stop when it finds the first match?

When I try to speak to Ground on 121.8, but the caption underneath says 'Clearance/ Delivery', P2A won't recognise my commands to Ground, but tells me to switch to the Ground frequency instead (which is the one I'm already on).

When I CAN occasionally get the caption to read 'Ground' on 121.8 (not sure the exact sequence of actions, perhaps use COM2, select Tower, then select Ground and switch), it works OK.

I have done radio checks to see if it's hearing me and they're fine on all frequencies.

Do you have any suggestions for me?  I'm running on Win10.  Thanks in advance.

Sorry forgot to add I'm in X-Plane 11 on Win10.  Thanks.

I see there  is a data problem with NavDataPro data causing this.  Point Mugu frequencies are overlapping and assigned to KCMA.  Also seems they have 121.8 at Camarillo assigned to both Ground and Clr Del.

You can change to the Navigraph data if you're using the bundled data.

I'll report the problem to NavDataPro so they are aware.

Hey thanks so much for your quick reply, Dave.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'change to the Navgraph data'.  Could you explain?  I bought the full Pilot2ATC package and don't have a Navgraph subscription.  Can I edit the bundled data?

My versions are

Pilot2ATC: 2.4.0.6+x64_c

Navgraph - AIRAC cycle 1705

I looked through the P2A configuration but didn't see anything obvious...

Many thanks again for your help.

Upon further review, it appears both Navigraph 1705 and NavDataPro 1706 have this issue at KCMA.  And, both current cycles seem to have it also.  So updating to the latest cycle won't help this particular problem.

In addition to letting both data providers know, I will see about doing some code modification to mitigate this issue.

Thanks,

Dave

Edit:  I tested the latest version and it handles this issue correctly.  Update to the current version 2.5.0.2 and let me know if it recurs.

Excellent!  After updating to the latest version, initial tests seems to work fine - I'm able to switch back and forth between ground and tower with no problem.  Now it's on the correct frequency I don't feel like such an word not allowed trying to get the thing to respond as it replies immediately!  I'll do some more testing and let you know if I find any other quirks.

Huge thanks for your super quick response and remedy to the problem.

Delicate little flower of a discussion board censored my very mild and self-deprecating word for stupid person with 'word not allowed'!🤣
