losing key assignements

Featured Replies

From time to time, I lose my keyboard assignements. I thought till now this was related to switching between CH USB yoke and joystick but I'm not so sure anymore where the bug comes from. The weird thing is that I don't lose every assignements, most of them but not all of them and not always the same...Anyone having had this problem ?Dominique

If you use CH Control Manager make sure you save the correct key assignments. Then read-up on how to start CH Control Manager with your saved configuration in the correct mode before FS starts. I have not used it for quite some time but I recall these steps. If you do not use CHCM, then this problem would occur if your FS9.cfg is regnerated which would reset defaults.

No I have never seen the keyboard assignments dissapear. The yoke/joystick button yes, but not the keyboard shortcuts. Do you have any global programs, like FSIUPC installed? Something like that could effect your keyboard assignments.Just a thought.Rob

thanks both of youno, I dont use FSUIPC nor CH CM (except to recalibrate, you need at least a Ph.D. in sanscrit to use that one). And I dont get a reset default config, just most of the assignements are just wiped out. Not a big deal, I do a general reset and reassign some of the keys but still a PITA ... weird hey ?!

I'm making an assumption that you mean your FS controlled keyboard assignments, like, I assign rudder left to "X". I lose my keyboard assignments when FS crashes. When FS quits, it can rewrite the fs9.cfg file, which contains the keyboard assignments. If FS crashes before it finishes this writing process, it will truncate this file. I keep a backup of the FS9.cfg file, and when my keyboard assignments disappear, I just replace the fs9.cfg with my backup.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)
