New MCE Install after crash

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I am re-installing everything, following a major crash. Default installations for ALL applications, with UAC disabled.
Running P3Dv4.2 (+ FSUIPC, Orbx, AS4, ASCA, PMDG737....all working fine).
The MCE installer keeps requiring first thing that P3D be in "Run as Admin" mode. It was already.
I tried several times to reapply this mode (P3D Properties-Compatibility,) plus restarting and checking. No change.

Thank you for your help,

Giorgio

If it's the installer reminding you about that, just ignore the message. Sometimes detection of admin status fails.

Are you getting the prompt every time you start P3D V4?

The prompt appears at the very beginning of the installation process.
Double-clicking the Installer icon I get:
1- the warning about the trial version 3-day expiry, then
2- the prompt to set Admin mode in P3D, and the correct P3D folder opens
At this point the installer quits immediately.

I downloaded MCE a second time and started from scratch: same problem.
Thanks for your help,
Giorgio

In P3D V4 case, the installer copies

fsInsider64.dll to \Prepar3D v4\ folder

fsInsider.ini to \Prepar3D v4\ folder

A folder named <MCE dlls> to  to \Prepar3D v4\ folder

The above steps could be performed manually when for some reason, Windows denied copying or creating those folders.

At some point, it should fire "XPack.msi" which is inside <Resources> folder (in downloaded unzipped file)

"XPack.msi" uses Microsoft installer technology. Therefore must have the "Microsoft installer service" available (It's always enabled on a standard installation).

Eventually double click "XPack.msi" and it should install MCE.

If it does work, you can assume for some reason, the "InstallMCE" process didn't get permission from Windows to start "XPack.msi" programmatically.

If it doesn't, re-enable the "Microsoft Installer" service, restart PC and try again.

Almost there!

Following your directions the installation worked.
For your information: the .dll and .ini files, plus the MCE dll folder, were already in place.
What was blocked (by Win Defender) was the XPack.msi Installer, which worked when launched manually.
So far, so good.

WHAT REMAINS:
1- I ran MCE once, and the registration file now contains the Machine ID: 7467EEE64232269B49827F12
2- I then copied my backup licence key to the same folder, but MCE, after requesting to use the wizard, quits.
Maybe the file is corrupted. At any rate, the registration process does not start.
What next?

Thank you ver much for your assistance,
Giorgio

Fill-out "Registration.txt" file found inside \Multi Crew Experience\ installation folder and send it to support==multicrewxp.com
