July 6, 200619 yr I have a problem that nor I or Thomas can figure out what is exactly going on.Using FSK on the FS9 PC the rebuild is perfect.Using FSK on a WideFS client the rebuild ignores some but not all subfolders in the FS9 Scenery folder. The FSK uses the FS9 Scenery.cfg to do the rebuild. It will read the first several subfolders than ignore 5 others then using the following ones.Has anybody had this type of problem with FSK or any other client PGM using files from the server PC ? July 6, 200619 yr Hi Roger. Don't know if this is related, but my WideFS set up generates errors in the log everytime I rebuild. There are five of these, but they are all related to the scenery folders conerning FSGenensis' USA roads, streams, rails (whatever it is call) so I just ignore them, so far without consequence because the Navaids and afcads are what are important. Just in case this points you toward any thig useful. Good luck.
July 6, 200619 yr Author I had that also and fixed it. This problem doesn't generate any log. Everything seems to go correctly except if I look at the progress of the rebuild (bottom line at the left side) I can see that the rebuild just jumps form layer 5 to layer 11 ignoring layers 6 to 10 (which are Europe and the USA, the main areas where I fly). Therefore no airport for these continent appear on FSK map except for the AFCAD defined airports. Roger See my specs in my profile
July 6, 200619 yr Moderator Roger,I had the same problem and the only way to fix it is to install FSFK on both machines and run the Scenery Rebuild on the FS one and then copy the 3 files it creates to the non-FS version. The 3 files go into the root folder of FSFK.I think it's to do with the scenery.cfg not having full UNC paths. The above work-around will fix your problem.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). The 3 files go into the root folder of FSFK.Ray's workaround is the one I use; slightly tedious, but takes just a few seconds. I created a "Send To" shortcut to the proper FSFK folder on my WideFS PC to make it simple (just right-click, SendTo, FSFK). Easy as pie.
July 7, 200619 yr Author Ray,That is what I do now. But I transfer only one file: AFDCache2004.datWhich other files should I transfer ? Roger See my specs in my profile
July 7, 200619 yr >Ray,>>That is what I do now. But I transfer only one file:>AFDCache2004.dat>Which other files should I transfer ?>>It may not be necessary to transfer all three, but I move the following files over:AFDCache2004.datNAVCache2004.datOBJCache2004.datI started doing that from the beginning since all the files had the same timestamp; I assumed that rebuilding of the cache affected all three files and should therefore be transferred.Hope this helps.
July 7, 200619 yr Moderator Roger,JTEK99 needs thanking - not me ;-) Yes, those are the files I copy over.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 8, 200619 yr Author JTek,Thank you.I did not realized that there were two other files. But my tests are not yet finished and as soon I saw the airports problem I didn't check further. You made me gain some time.Roger Roger See my specs in my profile
