August 24, 20187 yr Hi Firstly, this is a vanilla installation of P3d V4.3 Professional with only one add-on namely the PMDG 737 NGX and a brand new installation of Windows 10 ..there is nothing else on the PC Everything had been running fine until a few days ago ..... I would click on the P3D icon .. the splash screen would come up and after about a minute it would disappear and nothing else ..... Basically P3D would not load to the scenario menu Therefore I decided to uninstall both the PMDG aircraft and P3d fully from the control panel .. after that I cleaned things up by uninstalling the folders from app data/local and app data/roaming With everything uninstalled I started the re-install process and selected to install to C:/Prepar3D ... I run everything as administrator .... As soon as I clicked install I received this message .... 'No action was taken as a system reboot is required' .... I tried this and received the same message again I would appreciate any help on this Thanking you in advance Paul Top

August 24, 20187 yr Author Hi Simbol Thank you for replying ... P3D is uninstalled ..... I firstly uninstalled the PMDG 737 and then uninstalled P3D This error message flags up when I go to re-install it .... As soon as I click 'Install' up comes the error message Paul
August 24, 20187 yr There might be something messed up in the registry somewhere. Try CCleaner for this operation, (you can remove it afterwards), and it should clear out any registry entries left behind. Since you've only a bare OS, it should not mess it up too much. Hi Jude Hmmmm Interesting you say that .... In the past whenever I have installed something into P3D such as scenery or an airport and P3D fails to start I always uninstall the possible rogue scenery and then perform a 'system restore' and that sorts everything out On this occasion, and as I say, this only had P3D and the PMDG 737 installed and nothing else ..... I tried to do a 'system restore' from a restore point on August 1st and the 9th ..... Both FAILED!! So I am wondering if something is corrupted in the registry or somewhere else in Windows 10 ... It's a really odd one this ... I have googled my problem and can only find people with the same problem installing either Cad programs or Visual C++ etc etc Paul
August 24, 20187 yr I've had odd issues before with Windows 10, where I ran %appdata% from the run menu and it prompted for a default program to open it with, which is nonsense. It turned out to be a user profile issue. You can try running %appdata% to see if it directly opens your folder location. If yes, then your profile is probably OK, but if it prompts for a program, then manually navigate to your user profile and check if there are duplicate profiles which could cause the reboot required error. August 25, 20187 yr Author Hi Jude & Simbol Ok .. just to let you know P3D is now up and running and working. .. I followed Brady’s advice (software engineer at LM) and ‘manually’ installed the client/content and scenery files in that order and it worked beautifully .. Thank you very much both of you for your input .. it’s well appreciated Paul ---- https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6322&t=130655 Edited August 25, 20187 yr by Poppet Included link to solution
