AFS2 and camera views question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am looking to buy AFS2, but wondering about the camera views in the sim. In P3Dv4 I am using EZDOK. Does AFS2 has something like EZDOK to setup the views ?

No. You have three sets of regular views which you can cycle through with 1&2, 3&4 and 5&6. (2 cycles forward through the first set, 1 cycles backwards, etc.) You can use Z or shift-Z to zoom in or out. You can assign various keys to move the view around (forward, backward, up, down, etc.)

Since the latest update you also have the developer view (only for external views) which you can activate with control-F8. Controls are limited but you can go anywhere with it:
- use the mouse to look around in any direction
- press W or S so move forward or backwards in the direction you are looking
- press Q or E to look left or right (similar to the mouse movement)
- press Z or shift-Z to zoom in or out (or use the scroll wheel for this)
- press R to revert the view back to the original developer view (close to your plane)

- undocument key: press L to focus your view on you plane from wherever you are: instead of you being the center of the view, your plane is the center. Wherever you move your mouse, the plane will always stay centered. The mouse and W, S and Z also work with this view.

BTW The developer view automatically pauses the sim.

The only way to change and SAVE views is by editing the airplane files but that isn't a supported option. You can easily change the default tilt of the view for instance this way but of course it's not as easy as using EZDOK or ChasePlane.

TrackIR5 works too...btw with it the up and down view key do not...while the others (left, right and so...) work properly in conjunction with Track.
