September 7, 20187 yr Have been running RC4 (4.3.3845 ~~ 08.02.2007) through FS's to FSCSE and now into P3D4 since Jan 2018 all without major issues - just the (very) odd glitch - each quickly resolved via this forum...:) Over the last few weeks I have been having peculiar sound issues where initially the volume is OK - then the RC4 sounds directed at my call-sign become VERY muted - almost inaudible - to return but on a very ad-hoc basis! The AI chatter is still at 'normal' levels and I struggle to intercept my instrucions with the consequent reprimands for not doing this or that :( I have resorted to turning off all aircraft sounds; turning the volume of the speakers UP only to be almost blasted out of my seat when the RC-instructions directed at me return!!! I did wonder if this was connected with a recent W10 update but everything else is running as required... Just completed a flight from Frankfurt Main to Southampton where, at only 60 miles from touchdown and still at FL340, realised that RC had just retired from the proceedings only to return with "(callsign) cleared for landing" almost at the actual touchdown! With a circuitous route and some old fashioned hand flying I did manage to land at my planned destination but I do sorely miss a fully functional and my MUST HAVE add-on Radar Contact... Suggestions to rectify the sound issues most welcome. Thanks in anticipation. Ken 😉 Old enough to know better... ...young enough to do most of it again! September 7, 20187 yr Moderator Ken, It sounds like a Win 10 issue since I have no problems with Win 7. There have been a couple of posts in the forum about sound levels. Search on sound and you should find the solution. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 8, 20187 yr Author Hi Ray ~~~ thanks for the response... Did you mean check 'sound' within P3D4? I have done this several times - I find two choices there... either the default system [Realtek HD Audio - driver 6.0.1.7] or the sound available from the smart TV/monitor. I have tried setting to the TV - makes no difference - still comes and goes! The default system gives an overall better sound experience. The P3D sound options only allow me to change volume levels in the areas of engine, cabin etc ~~~ unless I am missing something very obvious! I did think about a re-install of RC4 but don't know if this would/could make the difference? On my FS machine I don't have an e-mail facility with the consequence of experiencing issues waiting for the new activation details... If you think that would help then I will go for it. Thanks... September 8, 20187 yr Moderator Hi Ken, No, I meant searching this forum using 'sound'. I found this topic which may help. It could be a Win 10 issue. I don't have that or P3D v4 so difficult to assist. Regarding waiting for a key the process is reasonably robust but if you haven't heard back soon contact Doug Thompson at [email protected] There's no need to install mail on your FS PC. The important thing is the correct info was supplied in the email. Edited September 8, 20187 yr by Ray Proudfoot Ray (Cheshire, England). September 8, 20187 yr Author Hi Ray, thanks for pointing me in this direction (Manage Audio Devices). Issue resolved by poking the Doll's Eye "Do Nothing" :) Just completed a flight Southampton - Milan ~~~ ran silky smooth with no 'outages' from RC4. September 8, 20187 yr Moderator Glad to hear it was a simple fix Ken. Windows 10 is the culprit. Ray (Cheshire, England).
