September 9, 20187 yr For some reason, P2A can't hear me. I'm using the Grammar Help window to test with the phrase "say altimeter". Here's a breakdown of what's going on. In the Grammar Help window, I click the "Practice" button. This information pops up. I hold the PTT button and say the phrase "say altimeter". When I release the PTT button, it says "Full txt:". Clicking the "Replay" button yields nothing audible (no click, no hiss, no indication of sound). Other applications are receiving audio. I've tested with Discord, Steam, and Windows Speech recognition (note: I ensure that these are not running/using the mic when I test P2A). The default recording device is the Logitech device in the above screenshot. Here's a screenshot of my devices: I've verified that none of the devices allow exclusive control. A weird thing, that may or may not be related, is that if I don't start P2A as Administrator, P2A will freeze for roughly 1 minute when I click "Practice". I know it's not a lot to go on, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
September 9, 20187 yr Commercial Member Daniel, If you are using a headset, Windows may recognize that and put a set of "level" settings on the Levels tab of the Headphone Properties. To set these, select the Headset in the playback devices Windows Settings and press "Properties". Select the Levels tab. Notice the Microphone setting on the Playback device. Also, make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your headset. This has caused some issues in the past. Here are some other things to check: ⦁ Be sure your microphone is not muted on the device itself ⦁ In the Microphones Properties: 1)Check the volume level of the Microphone 2) On the Advanced tab, be sure the Exclusive Mode option is unchecked ⦁ In the Sounds Communications tab, check that the "Do Nothing" option is checked In the Windows Speech Properties, be sure the Audio Input Settings have "Use Preferred Audio Input Device" checked There have been a few users with USB headsets that worked on USB 2 ports and not USB 3 ports, so if you have a USB headset, try changing ports. Another user fixed it. by uninstalling a couple of bundled Asus sound effects programs and the program then started hearing speech but could not recognise it. He then ran through the speech recognition training and it then could recognise the commands properly. Dave
September 9, 20187 yr Author My headset doesn't appear to have a level setting for the microphone portion under Playback. I also verified that the mic is picking up sound. I verified that the drivers are the latest. I verified that "Do nothing" is selected on the Communications tab. I verified that Exclusive mode is disabled. I verified the settings in the Speech Properties (I tried both, but to be safe I forced it to my headphone mic). I can't really screenshot the USB ports, but I moved it to a USB 2.0 on a different USB controller, then back to different port on the original USB controller, but it didn't seem to make a difference (well, it seems to have added a 3- in front of the device name. I think that's just to prevent duplicate names). I don't have any enhancements or effects turned on (voice changers or special software). To verify it wasn't colliding with my Oculus, I disabled that. I also installed the vanilla windows Realtek drivers to avoid any funny business that their client software may introduce to other audio devices. I purchased a program called "Driver Easy" to scan and make sure all my drivers were up to date (in case anything slipped by). It found about 20 miscellaneous things, but updating them and rebooting had no effect. Are there any additional logs or diagnostics you need? My system is an open book for you. 🙂
September 10, 20187 yr Commercial Member Thanks for all the details and screenshots. Try setting the Audio Input to "Use preferred audio input device" instead of "Use this audio input device". If that doesn't do it and if you have a plug-in headset, see if you can get that to work. USB devices seem to sometimes cause issues. Dave
