FSX and P3Dv3 side by side

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

what about RC when I have installed both sims? To use RC do I need install them twice, in FSX and in P3D. Or is it ok to install RC into the "C"

drive? FSX and P3D are sitting on "D". Those are two  SSD´s  (C=250G, D=500G) and the PC is Flightsim only.

Tks for advice

Peter,

Just make a copy of the first RC install and adjust paths as required. You'll need to have the sim name in the RC shortcut so you run the right instance of RC for the sim you're using.

Like Ray says, two copies.  You'll need to do that also because the airport/runway databases (e.g. a4.csv, r4.csv) will be different for each sim.  You have to run makerwys separately for each sim and build those databases for each.

Ray, first thank you for your reply.

Do I get it right: install as always. Make a Folder on "D",. call them RC.(Both sim´s are on "D")

Install RC into this folder.

After getting my new key and register succesfully,  make a copy of this folder and adjust path to P3D

make a copy of the shortcut and adjust path for p3d inside, so that I have 2 shortcuts for RC

Peter,

You don't say what your current status is but it sounds like you haven't yet installed RC4. Install the first instance for FSX. Apply for the key and when received register that version.

Then make a copy of that RC folder and paste it where you like. RC can be installed on any hard drive. It doesn't have to be on the same drive as FSX/P3D.

And as Bob advises run MakeRwys on each install making sure you point to the right sim.

Ray, that make it more clear to me. I´m not a pc guru.

I just setting up again FSX after the shift to SSD drives.

If all run well then I will sent the request to JD in a couple of minutes.

Thank you both  for your help, and I do hope I do not have to ask again

Peter,

JD lives in Atlanta, Georgia and Hurricane Florence is about to come ashore in the Carolinas. If you don't hear back straight away the storm is probably the reason.
