P3D Files Configuration

Featured Replies

I have V4 on an new Alienware R7 desktop with the latest cards, enough memory, etc...with a SDD C Drive holding my Windows and a few other programs essentially.  My D Drive is an HDD and much larger.  I use it for data and also my P3D installation. Same for all the add ons.I enjoy the sim a lot-but am not very adept with computers, files, installation. I have add ons like  Orbx, Active Sky, A2A, and recently the GTN750.

My problem is I have not clue to what the ideal file configuration should look like.  Is there a document or some link to show how I should arrange my base program and the files under it on my D drive? It seems like I have a P3D file. a LM file, random Add-on files- some in the P3D folder, others in their own folder in the D drive. Some even show traces in my C drive... A2A in its installation recommended the “P3D Add on file.”  I have no such file. I created it- but don’t know where to put it!

Sorry for this pretty fuzzy explanation which may be impossible to answer. Shows how jumbled up I am about what to do.

Thanks!

The Hodge Podge is the way it is until the FSX/P3D development community are all on the exact same page. I don't think V5 will be any different.

However everything should work fine, despite the mishmash.
