August 23, 200619 yr Sure would be nice if one of the top development houses out there would do this version of the Meridian with VC cocpit.Would be even better to own one; all it cost is a cool 1.8 million. ;-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/154674.jpg

August 23, 200619 yr Agree. While I liked the Meridian from F1, i.e., the gauges and how it flew, the VC was not nice graphically. Hopefully someone will do justice to this fine plane in FSX with a quality VC. In fact, since the G1000 will be included gauges in FSX it may be something easier to do as freeware. I note that those are the Avidyne gauges with dual Garmin 430s.
August 23, 200619 yr What is the point ?- I have yet to see a glass panel cockpit a/c modelled that doesn't need a super-Cray computer to run it with anything like flyable FPS. I think that our hobby is starting to become like the Sydney to Hobart yacht race - and in so doing lies the seeds of it's own destruction. That yacht race started out 60 years ago as a race between about 4 ordinary yacht owners. It grew and grew over the years until one year there were around 200 entries - nowadays it is dying. Why ?? - because it has basically become a mega-yacht race where the attention is only on a few extremely expensive yachts. The pack at the back are losing interest. To my mind there is no point in developing FSaddons that are only capable of being run by the latest and greatest computer development - that is the sure way for this hobby of ours to slide downhill.Barry
August 23, 200619 yr Author Yep, you know minus the few analog backup gauges; I'd think I was on some time of spacecraft instead of a GA plane.
August 23, 200619 yr Don't agree. Bought the G1000 from Mindstar a short time back. Paneled in the Cessna182 I see little fps loss as compared to RXP's Garmin 530. In other words, the glass panel doesn't have to be a fps hog necessarily. On the other hand, if it's an addon you don't have to buy or if it's freeware to download it. That's the great thing about this hobby but also the other side of technology. As programs become more complex so is the necessary hardware. This is a fact of technology which is why we're no longer in the Dark Ages.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Barry I respect your point o view; but the whole point of flight simulator is to simulate flight/aircraft old and new. Otherwise we will only be able to simulate what is current and old, but nothing new in the aviation industry. That would be severly limiting. In programming you have good/sloppy/good but not enough resources.I think this is possible and do-able with the current hardware.
