Previously installed RC4

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Just returned to flight sims after a few years. Have just installed P3D v4. I uninstalled FSX some time ago but I never uninstalled radar contact. Is there any way to point it to P3D? Unfortunately I don’t have the original download so I can’t reinstall it.

I did notice in a previous thread that it is possible to contact ?Doug to obtain a download link, would that be the best way to go? If I have to purchase it again, so be it.

i have tried a couple of the current atc programs but haven’t been overly impressed, such a pity v5 was shelved.

Many thanks for any help

Regards

G

Try creating a dummy fsx.exe in your P3D main folder and point RC4 to that. No reason at all for RC4 not to work in P3D. Just a bit of trickery required.

Create a text file and save it as fsx.txt. Then change the extension to exe.

Hi Ray

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate that you keep support going for rc4 of your own accord so thanks for that.

I’ll give that a go, I have scoured this forum but everything I’ve read seems to be for a new install (unless I’ve misunderstood, which is probable)

I’ll be back probably 😀

Gandalf,

You will need to ensure you have the latest version of fsuipc5 and makerunways, both from Pete Dowson's site.

Shouldn't be any need to reinstall RC4. Just needs pointing to your chosen sim. FSUIPC is the contact between RC4 and P3D,

As long as you have RC v4.03.3845 you'll be fine.

Hi Ray

Many thanks for your help, all seems to be working perfectly (once I realised that I had to reassign the key presses😀) although I haven’t tried it on a complete flight yet.

It’s amazing it still appears to work so well after all these years!

Again, thanks for the advice

Regards

Very good. All RC4 needs to know is your lat, lon, altitude, speed and heading. It doesn’t need to know about SIDS, STARs and the like. Oh, and airport data such as runway positions. Its simplicity is its strength.
