August 25, 200619 yr OK I have what is a fairly run of the mill system that runs FS9 just fine (AMD3700+ 6800GT 1 gig etc) but when I fire up the FSX demo and select a flight I get an instant black screen system crash. OK I thinks to myself perhaps I need to use the selective boot so I reboot with the usual things disabled but no joy black screen crash again. Now I could try to wade through the 400 odd posts in the FSX demo issues thread to find out what might be the problem but if some kind soul can suggest some options I would be grateful. I'm not going to waste too much time on this as I always expected to have to get a new system to run FSX well but I would have least expected to be able load the thing and try it out.ThanksBruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." August 25, 200619 yr Well the problem seems to have been my multi monitor setup. After disabling the second monitor I managed to get FSX to load properly. Now for the really puzzling bit, on re-enabling the second monitor FSX now loads normally. Very strange. Well having got a good look at FSX I must say that for possibly the first time I wont be in any hurry to upgrade to of a new MSFS version. The sim runs smooth enough no real problems there and the new water effect are very impressive (up to a point) and you can now create a forest of autogen trees. However, just about everything else leaves me somewhat underwhelmed I'm sorry to say. The ACES team seem to be a very dedicated bunch but their efforts have been lost on me. Perhaps the release version will be better - it will need to be.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened."
