August 14, 200619 yr Not sure if it is common place now, but I find it annoying that every time I press the caps lock, num lock etc I get the message in the lower right of the screen. It always causes FS to stutter and sometimes to switch to desktop. Is there anyway to get around this? Alaister Kay

August 14, 200619 yr Sorry, should have said, just the indication that caps lock, num lock are on or off.I'm currently on a laptop that has lights to indicate that they are on/off so the indication is pointless Alaister Kay
August 14, 200619 yr >Sorry, should have said, just the indication that caps lock,>num lock are on or off.>>I'm currently on a laptop that has lights to indicate that>they are on/off so the indication is pointlessI'm assuming this a Windows laptop, so check in Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel, then double click on keyboard, and any hardware specific settings regarding notifications would be in there.I have a logitech keyboard, and when I first installed the software for it, I had the same thing, except they were huge green notices that came across the middle of the screen. I had to turn them off in the control panel. Thanks,Brian
August 14, 200619 yr The only thing listed under devices is 'quick launch buttons' which don't display any such messages. Also there are only 2 tabs in the window - Speed and Hardware Alaister Kay
August 14, 200619 yr >The only thing listed under devices is 'quick launch buttons'>which don't display any such messages. Also there are only 2>tabs in the window - Speed and HardwareHmm. It might be different software then. That's where I found it for mine.I'd check to see if there's any programs installed for your keyboard that might have a configuration program of something.
August 14, 200619 yr You might try checking the Accessibility Options control panel, or look for some sort of control panel or config program from your laptop's manufacturer. (Try looking in the system tray and in Start|Programs|{laptop manufacturer} )"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
August 14, 200619 yr Tried those, no luck. Looking on the MS search site and can't find anything, other than:MORE INFORMATIONWhen you press the NUM LOCK key, the CAPS LOCK key, or the F LOCK key, the associated status lights on the wireless receiver turn on or off.You can also view the keyboard status lights by using the On Screen Display (OSD) option.-What on screen display option? don't have that anywhereAlso can only find on the HP website a piece of software which I assume enables you to add thisOh well Alaister Kay
August 14, 200619 yr I'm thinking that whatever is causing this isn't part of Windows. It may be part of the driver for the keyboard, might be a program that came with the computer, or might even be a program that someone downloaded and installed. (If anyone else uses the computer.) Can you get a screenshot of what the notification actually looks like?"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
August 14, 200619 yr I have a Dell 6400 which does exactly the same thing. You probably have the Dell Bluetooth driver installed. If so, this might help:Look in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareWidcommBtconfigGeneral (or something very close to that). There is an entry to hide or show key indications. Change the value from 1 to 0 and reboot. This might cure your problem.I hope this will solve your problem.Allard. August 14, 200619 yr Not that I know of, but I got exactly the same on screen display when I installed an MS bluetooth keyboard a few years back on my desktop (which I don't have access to at the mo). I'll try looking at the registry. Alaister Kay
August 14, 200619 yr Hmm, does the pick mentioned here look familliar?http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-420251.html"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
August 15, 200619 yr Yes thats the lil bliter, but that method of trying to hide it doesn't work, since its not a taskbar notification Alaister Kay
August 15, 200619 yr Assuming you aren't using the bluetooth keyboard, you could see if the drivers for one are present and remove them, that ought to fix it. (You may need to check View|Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager.) Otherwise, you could try asking Microsoft if there's a way to disable them. And look in any bluetooth or keyboard related control panels."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
