Search function is almost useless

Hi.  I'm trying to do a simple search for "X-Plane 11 backup" and I have to wade through many, many other topics before I ever see anything about backup and the first one I find about backups is for P3D.  What's going on with the search function?

Jeff,

IMHO, AVSIM is the worst place to search for X-Plane how to's.  AVSIM just has a general forum for X-Plane where users can exchange information.  You would have better success doing a search on Google for X-Plane 11 backup.  There are sites that are dedicated 24/7 to just X-Plane.  They have nothing about P3D, FSX, MS Flight, or any of the many official commercial support forums AVSIM hosts.  We also host many freeware forums too and sites that are dedicated to XP11 cannot compare.  AVSIM does have one topic on backing up your throttle settings but I could find nothing else. 

I did do a a search for 'backup' in just the two X-Plane forums located on AVSIM and came up with a lot of results -

Learn to do advanced searches.  Do a search. No matter how good or how bad the results, look at the results page. Find the link "+ more search options" and click on it.  When there, expand or limit your search with the options.  For instance try this:

Search terms

"fppilot saitek advanced"

Check the following boxes:
■ All Content

■ All of my search term words

Click "Search Content" and then just look at those results........

You may need to wade through a learning curve, but the search function is much better than most give it credit for.

Thanks, guys.  I was probably a little quick in my assessment, but it seemed like the search system before was better.  I had no problem finding the Advanced there, etc.  Yes, thanks,Jim, I'm aware of the X-Plane issues you mentioned, but I had trouble with other subjects before, too.
