July 25, 200520 yr Hi folks, Does anybody know how much an inertial navigation system costs in average? The ones used by airliners. I was just curious because I've heard several people saying that this is THE MOST expensive avionic inside those airplanes. Is that true? Thanks,Leo
July 25, 200520 yr Author INS were mechanical, I don't think they make them anymore, the current systems are ring-laser based and are typically called IRS (Inertial Reference System). If I recall the price for a single unit is somehwere around $300,000.
