I'm preparing a long flight and I've broken it up into several shorter "hops." Is there any way to take all the individual .vbf files and combine them into one long route or do I have to export them into FMS files and import them that way?

Each takeoff and landing is a flight with it's own flight plan.  You need to save each one separately and export for whatever FMS/GPS will be used.  Then load them and fly them as separate plans.

There is no ability to merge multiple flight plans into one.
