from what I have read it seems that there is no way to have FSrecorder operating with P3Dv4.

can anyone advise if there is a way to record flights in P3Dv4 in the same way - ie so that one can create the ability to do formation flying ?

I don't know what you mean about formation flying but I use OBS to record entire flights.

I think that "JoinFS" does that with the "overdub" feature.

So in FS Recorder you could record a flight you’ve flown then you can replay that flight as ‘traffic’ enabling you to fly again this time formating on the aircraft you earlier flew and recorded.
