Windows Defender

My Windows installation has just updated. and now considers MCE to be a virus.  I had to reinstall and set Windows Defender to allow MCE.  JUst a warning really.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Is there a specific file that is flagged-up or the download itself?

Sorry for the delay,  it was xpmce.exe, Defender just moved it to some quarantine directory.  So clicking the link produced nothing.

OK, thanks.

A new package was uploaded yesterday just in case.

Definitely a false positive.

Something to do with the built-in protection against tampering and reverse engineering.

AV programs struggle with the file (can't easily parse it) and occasionally, out of caution flag it as potential malware.

It tends to happen with Avast and AVG more often than Windows Defender though.
