March 19, 200620 yr TV:Thanks for advice, and I'm sure this works, but that's the point I tried to make: instead of hacking for that feature, it can be done in a more "user-friendly" way, that is having a main program doing the right custom config for me. It's not a problem to fix files manually, and write batches, but for a payware, I expect those things to be put in GUI.Regards,
March 19, 200620 yr Hi, SV.I think I am beginning to understand you. You are right, there are better ways, and just the Save as Default should work, try to do it twice, if the first time does not work.I would think that, because it can be done, in any way, it is not likely to get addressed, but you can definitely put it out there. March 19, 200620 yr I made a new default flight using a plane in a cold and dark state and now every flight I start through Create A Flight starts up cold and dark. That can actually be annoying at times when I'm flying a copter and the lights/radio suddenly go out because the alternator didn't get turned on. (No alternator switch.) But I've got a keyboard shortcut setup to toggle the alternator status on aircraft with no switch. You can also have FS9 jump into a particular flight when it starts by double clicking the flight file. (Or in my case by setting up one of my keyboard's extra buttons to run "Previous Flight.flt" as if it was a program.)"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
March 21, 200620 yr >How about a "selectable option" on the starting screen? >>I concur! Those of us who want that realistic cold and dark start up can select this option and those that don't can choose not to have it at all.:9 >
March 21, 200620 yr Download this file and you'll always start FS9 cold and dark. You don't have to configure anything. This file has been around since FS9 came out. I'm surprised you guys don't know about it. I've been using it forever and never had a problem with it.http://www.fs2004.com/downloads/index.php?dlid=56 _______________________________________________ PILOTS: Looking down on people since 1903.
March 21, 200620 yr I've known about those for a long time. Only problem with something like that is sometimes you don't want to start cold and dark. Say when using autosave.dll and you "crash" because you were checking out your plane/airport in spot view and the camera intersected a building. (I do hope the crash detection gets updated in FSX.) Or when you are flying and Windows or FS9 crashes and you jump back to the most recent autosave, made while in the air. And, like I mentioned previously, sometimes starting cold and dark can cause issues when something that should be turned on doesn't get turned on. Like generators."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
October 23, 200619 yr I have no problem starting cold-n-dark. I load my favorite airplane, the location, set the time and weather, and save the flight (making sure it is the default one). Next time I start up, I get a cold-n-dark airplane. BTW it doesn't matter what plane I choose, any plane that I select is cold-n-dark from thereon. I do not select a specific flight either, I start flight sim from the 'Create a Flight' screen. I can literally start flight sim, select "Fly Now" and I'd have a cold-n-dark PA28 (my default aircraft).
