I have to say I'm a bit at the mercy of the PR plan, otherwise I'd have posted screenshots all over. (Of course, Jason would also kill me for showing stuff that didn't pass his bar.) So in the meantime I just drop hints and see where they go. ;)

Just sat here chilling with a nice beer, reading through the posts. Something got me a wondering :) Something I've always wanted to know to.I always read it that the ACES team did one year on MSFS then one year on MSCFC, hence the two year gaps. I was wondering if we could get to know what sort of time scales are used now on planning the next version. Nothing too fancy, just a general idea would be nice :)It just got me thinking with ideas getting removed this time around, hopefully completed for the next version. Which I guess means it a continuous process now ?

>I always read it that the ACES team did one year on MSFS then>one year on MSCFCThat hasn't been true for a long time and really doesn't have anything to do with the timing of the products. That's more a marketing driven decision than anything else.

So how long are we talking about from the initial concept to today's early renditions ? I'm guessing it more or less a continuous process now or does everyone have other projects they are involved with ?

It varies with every project so it's hard to give a general answer. However our software development process is not unlike that for traditional applications. That means that if you take the overall time between versions and apply a standard product lifecycle approach you can sort-of figure out how long each phase takes.

>There are several things that are in FS2004 that apparently>were inactivated (or never activated). One of them is that>taxiways have a property of "maximum weight loading" in the>database (as I remember), but it's not used in the sim.Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that one. I wonder if they'll put that in this time? It would be a neat way to make traffic flow on the ground like real life at the large airports, and you could send the large airliners along one route and the GA along another. Even if none of the default airports used this, it would nice for us to have the ability to tweak it.

what, no more landing 747s at dirt strips?
