February 21, 200620 yr Hi,I am seeing in the FSX screenshots that the freeways are now dominating the scenery, unlike in previous versions. This is indeed more accurate for simmers flying in the modern day, but for those of us flying in the past it will become an incredible annoyance to see those huge chunks of concrete when we are using FSX to try to go back to the days when they didn't exist! Can I ask that the freeway system be put into its own BGL files (and a scenery SDK tells us which ones so we can inactivate them), or even better, have a checkbox letting us turn them on and off?I would prefer that small roads and railways be kept separate from this setting, since I would not want to lose everything - just the freeways.Thanks,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
February 21, 200620 yr All the road data is already stored in separate BGL files (RD9*.BGL). You could "turn them off" by creating a separate scenery folder just for them and enable/disable them using the Scenery Library dialog.
February 21, 200620 yr Hi,While I would prefer not turning off all the roads (just the freeways), thanks for the tip. If the landclass textures have roads in them that will probably have to be sufficient for me.--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
February 21, 200620 yr Perhaps there's a project for the addon guys to take aim at.I'm the opposite, even when I fly older planes, I would love to have the highways around the area to navigate off of. I live in Northern Virginia, and the only way I know where anything is by figuring out what highway they are near.
February 22, 200620 yr I think what he is asking is that the roads be put into separate bgl's based on type. So for any given square you might have 2 or 3 RD files, i.e. RDHiway, RDMajor, RDMinor. Coincidentally, this would help towards the development of the addon I suggested for aligning "autogen" with the vector roads.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
February 22, 200620 yr The problem though is that the data the FS team is using may not have those attributes associated, so there is no way of knowing which ones the freeways are unless you identify them manually.Christian
