Food for thought....

Huh?Mike took a look at the links provided and thought that the data presented was too coarse for use within FS. This certainly isn't to say he's wrong, or anything of the sort, but I went to the link and found that NOAA offers data tables at 4km resolution. Mike had been under the assumption that the highest resolution data provided was of "...many square kilometers..." or words to that effect. Its also important to note that Mike said they would need raw table data, as opposed to graphical data. NOAA provides the 4km data in raw table format as well.I'm asking Mike if 4km data would be sifficient for use, provided it was used in tandem with some sort of filtering.Of course, I know better than to expect a specific answer regarding features that have not been announced yet. I'm simply bringing it to the dev's attention that the data available may exceed their expectations. If what you say is true, that hard winter land-class textures are already displayed at 4km resolution in FS2004, and I don't know that it is, then it seems that using real NOAA data over generic data of the same resolution would be a step in the right direction.I certainly don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers, here. Its just an idea. Regards,NickEdited, because its late and I'm tired...

In general we're always interested in new data sources so I appreciate the pointers. However, to increase the chance of us using new data (as we like to say) "the terms of use have to fit our licensing model", meaning the data has to be free (or nearly so). ;)

There are exceptions to every rule. Oh, and also "no one has said one way or another".
