530F start issues

Featured Replies

Haven't flown the 530F Heli in over a year. Tried to start it a couple of days ago, following carefully all start procedures, and can't even get the starter to engage. I have the macro for the button press, set everything properly, and press starter button, and nothing no spool up sound, no indication that anything is happening.  . Uninstalled and reinstalled twice.  Signed up for support forum, and have heard nothing so far from them so I can't even look at the forum to see if this is an issue that has already been addressed.

You do realize that we do not provide support 24/7?  You've now asked on our FB, gotten a response, asking in our general forums, gotten a response, asked here and now, gotten a response...

There's not much we can do.  If it's not turning at all...  no sound whatsoever... did you check to see if your volume is on?  Do any of the gauges move at all?

Yes sound is fine, nothing moves at all. rotor, spool up sounds, nothing.  It's like the start button doesn't function. Even tried both both buttons. . The only thing I see that moves is the TOT gauge when I increase the throttle setting. If I run the throttle all the way max, the TOT gauge goes all the way to it's max. Nothing else happens. Acts like a hot start with the turbine not turning at all.

Did you verify in the MVAMS that your settings are correct?  Cold and Dark... rather than RTF?

Yes, it's on cold and dark.

If it's on RTF, does it come up started?

Yes, and everything is normal when RTF

I discovered last night that if I program FSUIPC to control mixture. I noticed last night that if I program FSUIPC to control the mixture, apply full rich, then the rotor starts to spin up, I never get the starter spool up whine when this happens,/ and N2 stays at zero but rotor speed reads. 72.  full throttle, rotor speed in the green , torgue around 26, N2 never moves above zero.  Bizarre.

Have you tried it without your hardware (which you are obviously using given FSUPIC... which, we do not support)?

No.. I will try that today, although the 407 and UH1 work well with FSUIPC.

the point here is that something is coming between your hardware and the product.  When in doubt, the hardware is the first thing... especially if it worked before.  (FYI, nothing has changed in that product in years... nothing)

Makes sense. I will work on that this morning and post results here. Thanks.

OK, spent the morning working on this issue. I even disconnected all controllers from my PC, and used the mouse to try and start the 530. Same exact result, never get a spool up sound or action when pressing start button. Then I downloaded a new installer from your website thinking maybe the Dealers download was somehow not right, uninstalled your installer and reinstalled the 530. No change, same result.

At this point, I will I think I will leave start procedures to the 407 and the UH1 which both work very well, and just use RTF for the 530.

Tried one more thing this morning. Started the 530 ready to fly. Flew it around, everything perfectly normal. Landed, shut it down. Then tried to restart it, same result, no spool up or starter engagement when I press the start button.
