August 4, 20196 yr The title above talks about just one of the regular articles that one could read in Flying Magazines. Magazines were the Internet before the Internet.... This link is to their best edition, their 50th anniversary edition released to celebrate Lindburgh's Atlantic crossing. My first Atlantic crossing was 49 years, ten and a half months after Lindburgh's crossing, same year this magazine came out, in '77. He flew in his famed Ryan aircraft, I flew in a Douglas stretch DC8-63 from JFK to Munich, and like Chuck Lindburgh we almost did not make it off the runway, it was a dark and stormy night.... My birthdate, May 21st, coincides with his landing date in Paris.... John https://books.google.com/books?id=SOUUuRXEFmoC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false
August 5, 20196 yr Awesome share! Plus, the advertisements themselves are so much fun to read. Busdriver (Bill) KPHL 8086K @5.4GHz, EVGA GTX 1080 TI FTW3, DDR4 16GB @4000MHz, Samsung 970 NVMe (M.2) Windows 10 Pro, Samsung M.2 1TB for P3D V4.5
August 5, 20196 yr Tremendous share indeed! I so enjoyed going through that reading. I want to keep it so that I can read it more deeply in the future. Stan
August 5, 20196 yr I had the original magazine back in '77 and gave it to a friend I used to rent C172's with back in the 80's, our friend Tim Hurley would fly us for free if we split his rental costs, so he could build up time towards his IFR rating. It was a win win for all three of us. My friend never gave me the magazine back and I searched and searched for it online, ready to pay for it, when I stumbled on the link above about a year ago. I posted about it then but felt it was worth a repost, since we're busy simmers and cannot always take a gander at everything posted here at Avsim. John
