Cockpit view

Featured Replies

Notice on YouTube tutorials you can slew the view of the cockpit forwards and backwards.

At the moment, my cockpit view looks as if you’re sitting adjacent the control yoke.

Any ideas how to move backwards?

Noted...outside view just requires toggle at top of joystick to be pushed forward and backward, but it doesn’t work in the cockpit.

thankyou

It's with the default commands, but I don't remember off the top of my head which ones, mostly because if I have to move, I wind up trying all sorts of combinations before I eventually get it. In any event, it would be one of the following:

  • Shift + Enter/Backspace
  • Ctrl + Enter/Backspace
  • Shift + Ctrl + Enter/Backspace

There's three axes, up/down, left/right, forward/backward. I don't know which goes to which, so try it until you get it.

Kevin has it right, default keyboard commands, also found in Control > Buttons/Key commands > Views> Eyepoint

  • Shift + Enter = Move Up  > Shift + Backspace = Move Down
  • Ctrl + Enter = Move Back  > Ctrl + Backspace = Move Forward
  • Ctrl + Shift + Enter =  Move Right > Ctrl + Shift + Backspace = Move Left
  • Ctrl + Space =  Reset Eyepoint

You can also use the  "+ =  -" keys to zoom your view, once you get your seating eyepoint to your liking.

All this becomes a moot point if the Sim is using head tracking hardware, ie; TrackIR, but generally a tap on the Spacebar centralises the eyepoint, at least that's what happens with my HatTrack Software (Hotkey).

Thankyou all.....appreciate it.

Also, I have been trying to find the TOGA for a go-around on finals.

For the takeoff, it is easy enough to use the cursor to activate TOGA, however while on final approach with the thrust levers positioned as they are, I can’t access the TOGA button....

I found that ...

F1 key ... closes reverse thrust levers

F2 key .. activates reverse thrust

F3 key .. increases thrust

......where can you find a manual to describe these functions......?

thankyou in advance.

Hi D3gs,

You are correct with those F1 F2 F3 F4 key assignments, do you not have Flight controls.
If you are using FSX, The "FSX Learning Center" from the Left Side menu, or in Sim the Menu banner Help dropdown, would be a great place to start, (I no not if this exists in P3D) you can also check the Control Settings Buttons/Key assignments for their current bindings.

If you purchased an inexpensive USB Joystick such as the Logitech Extreme3D Pro, it would go a long way to making your flight controls more pleasant, more control of things such as elevator, trim, flaps, throttle, pitch, bank, turn, you can even assign the F2 reverse function to a joystick button. Flight Yoke & Pedals / Engine control Throttle/Prop/Mixture are another level of control which can make your flights more realistic, but only you can decide the way in which you want to control your aircraft and the expense of FS hardware.

Thanks Jethro....

I have the Logitech, .....but with regard the TOGA function....I watched a YouTube tutorial on a go around demo. Seemed to me ( the instructor) he was able to push TOGA as you would airborne, and had time to call the FMA, positive rate etc.....

Your help is appreciated

cheers

Hi D3gs

I'll have to leave that question for a 777 flyer, way above my experience, I don't have the aircraft, (actually I stumbled into the PMDG forum by mistake, to answer a simple question about Eyepoint adjustment).

How about that.....

Your help was great.

Check the intro manual. There's a clickspot on the glareshield somewhere. On the 747-400, it's a screw. I'm guessing there's something similar for the 777, it'll tell you in the manual.

Hi D3gs,

Kevin's got it,

Had to cruise the YT videos to find this, which might answer your TO/GA question.

In the YT video below, the pilot seems to be clicking on the screw just below the FD on switch. Notice the screw head is clickable by the mouse hand pointer.

You actually don't even need to watch the video, it's literally conveniently in the video thumbnail for you. I mean, I suppose if you really want to watch it to see how it works, have at it, but you can clearly see the mouse pointer in the thumbnail.
