January 6, 200620 yr A lot because FSX is clearly moving to the notion of immersiveness. Games that are popular are games which allow a greater level of realism. FSX is recognizing this by improving the visuals on a graduated basis. So now we see vastly improved mesh, textures, landclass, autogen with those great wet tarmac shots, cloud reflections. It appears as well that some locations have moving traffic. It's hard to tell but those nicely rendered roads have plenty of traffic on some of them - is the traffic moving? In addition we now will have adventures built in which no doubt will have greater and greater level of immersiveness.I'm waiting for the ability to leave my sim house, drive to the airport, and prep my GA plane or walk through the busy terminal to my Boeing 737 with a visible load of moving passengers and freight. The sky is the limit as it were and immersiveness and interaction with the sim environment MUST take place or the FS series will go the way of the dodo bird and only be the domain of a small and dwindling cadre of flight sim fanatics eventually being excluded from the programming loop. The flight sim series (with me starting with the Sublogic days and the C-64, lol!) has progressed from those pyramid style single colour vector graphics to the beautiful mesh and textures we're seeing. Thank goodness it never stayed with the former.

Did you get them free? Now all of that and MUCH-MUCH-MORE will be contained in the base FSX package. With less than 1% of the total package having been previewed thus far, I am flabbergasted at all the negativity and rush to judgement...
