Where is the mission creator in FSX?

Featured Replies

Anyone know how to access the mission creator in the Beta? If its not included, where can it be found?

In the SDK... Do you have a SDK folder in your beta? If so I think you need to copy the DLL into modules? Not really sure. I have the SDK just havent tried to use the mission builder.

Hi,There's no modules folder any more. The SDK contains a dll - object_placement.dll - which needs to be enabled before it appears. Check the mission SDK docs, they describe how to do it. In brief, you need to find a file called 'dll.xml' in your "Documents and Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/FSX" folder (or something like that) and change it to allow the mission builder to appear.Oh, and I may just have a couple of surprises in that neck of the woods before too long... ;-) HTHJim

Hi... I know you have written LWMViewer for FS9 which is great (though ive only had a quick play with it). What's the best tool to adjust autogen and coastlines/rivers for FSX? I wish there was a simple tool to do this. I just want to load a background image from Google Earth and adjust autogen, coastline. Are you writting a new LWMViewer for FSX?What do you think of the new FSX architecture. Has it changed much from FS9? Is autogen still 1km tiles?

Hi,Well, as far as I know there's nothing right now that will work properly with FSX, although there are a couple in the pipeline which hopefully won't take too long. I've written a little converter to go from BLN files to shapefiles which may help; I can do the same for SBX files if necessary.LWMViewer's been on the back burner for a while because of some other stuff I've been working on. Not quite sure where that's going yet - watch this space.Unfortunately the FSX scenery files are compressed and don't look particularly easy to unpick, although I must admit I've only taken the briefest of looks so far. Without that, it'll be very difficult to have anything modify the default files.I know there's a couple of moves afoot to work with Google Earth too, but I don't know where they're aiming at.HTHJim

The mission creator is great! I'm working on a search & rescue mission in my neck of the woods. So far so good.

Thanks Jim and Juicerabbit. That was the info I was looking for.

You know that mission for the Austrian airport Innsbruck. The VOR DME Approach mission?I like that one. That is a good example of teaching/training IFR approaches. Wish that there were more like that. Or a someone would start producing an entire set of IFR Practices and IFR approaches.I am not demanding that you do something like that or anything. :)Just throwing some ideas your way.. is all.Manny
