I love the updates Microsoft are providing, but I am not sure if it is just me, but sometimes I read their updates and can't really tell what on earth they are on about.  Maybe it means more to them internally but if they are so cryptic in their public announcements then it's not so useful to us.

What I mean by this is, if you look at the update on Sept 19th, it has "Build Program - Tech Alpha Timeline" - now to me this means a update to tell us what dates the Alpha testing process will take place, we got the update and it says this:

Tech Alpha Timeline

• October 10: Release testing complete. Lock final delivery schedule.
• October 17: Build release preparation.
• October 24: Release window opens.

Does this mean that public testing will begin on October 24th? I'm confused since the update on this Thursday releases another tech alpha timeline - I thought we had this already?

Then there is stuff like lock final delivery schedule? Build release preparation? DR Update? DR Update for November? What does this mean MS?!?!?!?!? 😞

The "window opens" comment simply means that there are a range of dates when the tech alpha could become available to fs insiders for testing/preview purposes.  Think of it as the 24th being the earliest the alpha could be available.  

As a developer,  you would be correct in my eyes. A limited release. I'm not sure all would get that initial release, and more than likely not the whole system. Portions, then they go back to updating after feedback. Then rinse, repeat, so to say.
