FSL A320 - COM Frequencies

Featured Replies

Now that MCE is super quick this is getting more noticable.

MCE takes quite a long time to change the COM frequency, because the dials are actually turned, and quite slowly. Depending on how far they have to be turned it can take up to 30 seconds.

Is this a necessity or can it be done faster?

Will double check.

But in general, dialing is coded to be slow on purpose. I mean it takes a few seconds in real life to set COM to a particular frequency.

We could make it instant, but then you'd end up with Super-Fo.

30 sec sounds a lot though, but 15 seconds is realistic, when you go from say 118.7 to 134.600.

It should not be instant and it is fine that the dial knobs are turning. But it should be a little faster.

A test:

Going from 118.500 to 136.000 took MCE 28 seconds. Doing it manually myself I needed 10 seconds.

So MCE should be sped up by factor 2 to 3.

Those long dialing times are problematic because PF3 sometimes gives commands after a handoff and before check-in with the the new station that get lost while changing the frequency. The longer it takes, the higher the risk.

OK, got it. It probably just happens with FSL A320 only.

With that aircraft pace is much slower due to technical limitations (no SDK) We'll see if it can be shortened

Use this patch

Keep an eye on Fo dialing as he could overshoot the target frequency occasionally.

Thank you!

Works fine. Speed seems just right now.

After some tests on the ground maybe 1 out of 20 tests he stopped short 0.25 from the commanded frequency. 19 out 20 it worked perfectly. I'm fine with that.
