GTN 750/650 and Carenado Malibu

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to get the GTN750 to work with the Carenado G1000 equipped Malibu.  I have installed the GTN and ensured it is the master unit. However after loading a flight plan I am unable to get the Malibu's autopilot to see the GTN. Unable to select NAV. I guess it still thinks the G1000 is the master unit for GPS/VLOC.

Running P3D V4.5 HF2. GTN works OK on other aircraft so I am guessing it is a Carenado thing.

Cheers

Peter

Hi,

This tells the CDI mode is not connected to the NAV/GPS switch (the GTN and the simulator HSI/Autopilot source are independent).

This most likely is the root cause of the issue you are having.

You might want to ensure both are set to the same source (set the aircraft source - via the G1000? - to GPS mode, and set the GTN CDI mode to GPS).

Otherwise, you will have to wait for the next update in the pipeline (put on hold during the holiday season because we won't be there to support it for a few days), which adds a new feature on all our GTN and GNS V2: bidirectional CDI mode synchronization:

  • GPS->SIM  (the default and only option so far in our GPS)
  • GPS<-SIM
  • GPS<->SIM

And before asking yes, this works with any combination of GTN and GNS V2, and it is self-aware, which means you can start flying with the GTN, then 10 minutes later add a GNS in the panel, then 10 minutes later remove the GTN etc...

Believe me, it is not so simple to implement but it makes our products so much simpler to use for our customers!

Cheers for that. I did a quick and dirty flight with KMDW-KMEM as the flight plan. Got airborne and used Hdg mode to intercept that track. Pleased to report it turned on track and would fly to Memphis if I let it.

Yes. looking forward to your update.

Just out of interest are you guys looking at doing a proper RealityXP version of the G1000?  The one that comes with the Malibu Meridian is a pain. Cant save and load flight plans for a start. There are a few desktop/tablet type hardware versions out there but out of my price range.

Cheers and thanks,
