My kids bought me a great present this year - a set of Thrustmaster TFRP rudder pedals. No longer do I have to use the proportional rocker switch on the HOTAS X throttle.

Apologies mods. I did not dig down below the main Hardware and OS Discussions thus forgetting that there was a controller sub-forum . Thanks for correcting.

I've thought about grabbing a set of these to go along with my Honeycomb Yoke. I can't currently afford MFG Crosswinds or the Thrustmaster TPR's. How do you like the TFRP's?

It is early days yet, but I do like the design. There is a lot of plastic, but it certainly seems robust enough. The sliding action is smooth. There is no silicone oil or silicone grease on the tracks, but that would just attract dust & pet hair. I'll have to keep an eye on that as time goes on. I suspect they need to be kept clean on a regular basis (YMMV depending if the pedals are on carpet or a hard floor and/or if you have any pets which shed hair).

I have size 8 feet (European size) and using the pedals with the heel stops fitted is quite comfortable - I tend not to wear shoes in my house. The toe brakes are easily applied although there is very slight binding if you're applying differential braking whilst moving the rudder. Not much of an issue, and I kind of expected it because of the position change when you apply the toe brakes.

Because the pedals are on a carpeted floor I've not taken the heel stops off to try resting my heels on the floor. (The pedals come supplied with a small allen key for this purpose.)

The pedals appear to calibrate fine via the software (downloadable from Thrustmaster) within windows 7. I did download the advanced software too where you can set the dead zones (& centre) and save them to the pedals. The USB adapter has a small switch on the side so you can use them as vehicle pedals too (brake and throttle pedals).

When I first fired up the sim I had an issue where the brakes were stuck on (red BRAKES sign in the bottom left corner of my screen). I increased FSX's dead zone setting slightly and that solved the issue.

I find it easy to get better coordinated turns now in my brief GA sorties so far.

One issue I currently have however, and this is where I hope AVSIM members can help out is regarding braking force. Not so much differential braking force which appears to do the job especially when applying rudder as well, but straight-ahead braking force when both toe brakes are applied. The aircraft takes quite a while to slow down and stop compared to my old method of using the joystick trigger to brake which applies a far larger stopping force. So much so that I have reinstated the trigger to apply straight ahead braking as well as the pedals doing everything else.

I'm not sure how to recalibrate the pedals to do the same. Use FSUIPC maybe? (I do have a registered version).

NOTE: I always have anti-skid switched on within the sim, no matter which plane I'm piloting: There is no feedback in my setup apart from looking at the wheels to see if they're locked up, so anti-skid it is .

Lastly - the pedals look cool especially for the price!
