The captain initiated an emergency evacuation via slides.
December 27, 20196 yr As I read it, they did the emergency evac because there was smoke in the cabin, later believed to be hydraulic fluid that got into at least one of the AC packs. Yes, according to my source, the APU was turned on when the airplane arrived at the gate and then smoke was observed on the flight deck and in the cabin. The captain initiated an evacuation via the airbridge and 3 slides. Passengers described a pungent odor developed on board before the aircraft was evacuated.
